Lucky

Every day Georgetown Cupcake has a secret (not-on-the-menu) cupcake.  They make 100 secret cupcakes per store, and there is a limit of one secret cupcake per person, per day.  How do you get one?  Well, you have to know the specific cupcake of the day and ask for it by name...it also helps to get to the store early.

Today's secret cupcake was vanilla hazelnut.  When Julia and I got to the Bethesda store around 11:15 this morning, we were able to get two (Julia counts as a person - woo hoo!).  And Julia happened to be wearing her "Lucky" St. Patricks' Day t-shirt today.  We were lucky all the way around!

Key

This house was my Grandma and Grandpa Miller's house in Bellevue, Nebraska. When the house got updated locks and keys, I was given one of the original house keys (from the 1940's).  After an Omaha artist painted my grandparents' house, she matted and framed the key with the picture.

I Made This!

Remember that doll pajama pattern from Monday's upside-down picture?  The PJ's are finished!  I didn't make the slippers or headband, but they match the purple pajamas perfectly.

L

L is for love.  Rosie loves Julia, and she also knows that Julia isn't feeling well, so she tried passing on some good kitty vibes during nap-time this afternoon.

Trade

This is the second year we have traded Girl Scout cookies with a friend in Texas.  Why?  Texas Girl Scout troops use a different baker/distributor than we do here, in Maryland, and therefore have different cookies.

This year we traded two boxes of "our" Savannah Smiles for a box each of "their" Mango Cremes and Thanks-A-Lot.  The girls were so excited to get that box from Texas tonight!

On My Bedside Table

My nightstand is really quite simple:  a lamp and my Kindle.  I promise I didn't clean up for today's picture...this is what is always on my bedside table.

Playing

Evelyn was playing with Rosie after school today.  She asked me to wrap up the cat like a baby.  I did, and Rosie didn't mind a bit.  What a tolerant little furball!

Up-side Down

I'm starting a sewing project - doll pajamas - and thankfully the pattern on the material allowed me to put the sewing pattern pieces right-side up and up-side down.  Otherwise it wouldn't have all fit!

Even though we are still two weeks away from officially putting our townhouse up for sale, we are starting to get organized and pack clutter.

Somehow this Lemonade Girl Scout cookie found its way to my hand this evening.  Thanks to our friends in New Jersey who sent them to us - Evelyn doesn't sell this yummy kind.  And maybe that's a good thing because they are DeLiCiOuS!

Julia and I went to a birthday party this afternoon.  I went to the party, fully intending to decline birthday cake.  But this sweet cupcake?  It turned into a guilty pleasure that I couldn't resist.

My Name

I don't know of a sign around here that has my name, so I went on a scavenger hunt for the letters in my name.  Thursdays are busy for the girls and me, so I was able to collect my letters from here, there and everywhere as we went about our day.

Julia went to a preschool program at Meadowside Nature Center this afternoon.  The display in the lobby of the nature center has several animal pelts.  Julia thought the red fox was the softest one.

Something I Smelled

Little Julia has the driest hands right now, and this Aveda lotion (thanks, Kat!) is the only thing that helps.  The licorice smell is actually really sweet on her hands.

Hope

The Container Store helped get Evelyn's and Julia's American Girl doll clothes and accessories organized.  I hope it stays that way.

A one-inch snow surprised us this morning.  Julia and I took a drive out in the country, and I took this picture.  This farm is about four miles northwest of our house in Montgomery County.

What I Do

What do I do?  I let my 4-year-old princess dress how she wants and choose her lunch.  Her birthday is three months away, but why not wear birthday clothes in January?

Degas' "Little Dancer Aged Fourteen" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  One of my favorite things I saw at the museum today.

Tonight Evelyn and I enjoyed these teeny-tiny bites of New York City deliciousness.  Really.  They are minuscule. No bigger than the diameter of an Oreo.  But flavor?  Absolutely!
